Last Saturday around 9.30pm, I noticed there were 2 fire engines on the opposite side of my block. Did not take much thought about it until about 10.50pm when i brought my son to bed, my hubby said he will go down to check out whatz happening. By then 5 police cars and another fire engine had arrived. Ten minutes later, my hubby called me and said that someone from the 10th floor at Blk 523 is sitting on the window ledge wanting to jump. So all of us went downstairs, all 3 kids, to see the commotion. It was too crowded with local residence trying to see the person obviously with some problem which can't be solved. The policeman avoided us from coming close to the taped area and i thought we better move away. My hubby went up the carpark building as they can see the action more clearly. Already there were around 20 to 30 odd ppl up the carpark. We were already at our Blk 526, when i heard ppl clapping hands. Two civil defence guys came down from the roof top on a rope and pushed the girl back to the room. She has been saved. Thanks to the S'pore Civil Defence rescue team. I found out later from my 2nd daughter (her classmate stays on the same flr) that the troubled person is only15 years old! So young and already willing to commit suicide! What drove her to That? i don't know but they were most likely to be relationship problems, stress in school, boy-girl problems and drugs? Can't help but feel sad for her.
